Terms of Use
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This page is available in English and Greek. If the two differ, the Greek version prevails.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
HexSwan is an independent game studio and a brand name. It is not a company or any other legal entity. HexSwan, the game Starwoven and every other game we publish (on hexswan.com and its subdomains, together the “Service”) are run by Giorgos Apostolopoulos, an individual, who is the other party to these terms and is referred to as “we”. By using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Contact: info@hexswan.com.
HexSwan may become a company in the future. If that happens, we may transfer these terms, the Service and your account to that company, which will take over our rights and obligations towards you. We will tell you beforehand, and the transfer will not reduce your rights.
2. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service and at least 15 to create an account. The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you use it on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you may do so.
Minors should participate with the knowledge and appropriate supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who assesses whether the game is suitable for the child. Where required by applicable law, use of online features and processing of personal data require the necessary parental consent. Users and guardians must comply with applicable law. This provision does not limit any rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
3. A game in development
Starwoven is a prototype in active development. The rules, features, balance, artwork and servers can change, be interrupted, be reset or be withdrawn at any time. Games in progress, accounts and other data may be lost, for example during an update. Please do not rely on the Service for anything important. We will try to keep it running well and to give notice of major changes, but we do not promise availability.
4. Accounts, usernames and guests
- You can play without an account. As a guest, only your browser remembers your seat; if you lose that data you may lose access to your games.
- An account is created by signing in with Google. Keep your Google account and devices secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you suspect misuse.
- Your username (“handle”), display name and nickname must not impersonate others, infringe anyone’s rights, or be offensive, hateful or unlawful. We may change or remove a name that breaks this rule.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts to get around a suspension.
5. Acceptable use
When you use the Service you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against other players, or post unlawful or hateful content in names or titles;
- cheat by exploiting bugs on purpose, tampering with the game or its messages, or playing under other people’s seats (please report bugs to us instead);
- use automated tools to access the Service in ways a normal player would not (scraping, flooding rooms, automated sign-ups), or try to overload, probe or break into it;
- send unwanted invitations or messages (spam) to other players;
- copy, resell or commercially exploit the Service or its content, or try to get around technical limits, except as the law allows.
If you find a security problem or a bug that could be abused, please report it to info@hexswan.com and do not exploit it. Thank you.
6. Content you provide
Nicknames, usernames, display names and room titles are visible to the other players in your game. You remain responsible for them. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display them as needed to run the Service, and nothing more.
7. Moderation and enforcement
If you break these terms, we may remove content, end or delete games, block invitations, or suspend or delete accounts, with or without notice depending on how serious the breach is. Where reasonable we will tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, write to info@hexswan.com and we will look at it.
8. Intellectual property and what you may not do
The Service and everything in it (Starwoven and every other HexSwan game, including its design and rules as written, text, artwork, illustrations, any music or sounds, the interface, logos and the names HexSwan, Starwoven and the names of our other games, as well as all software and source code: the code of the Starwoven digital platform, and the code of the HexSwan multiplayer system, meaning the game servers, rooms, accounts, friends and related software) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved. Our software is not open source and no licence to its source code is granted. We do not claim that the names are registered trademarks unless we say so.
The proprietary digital platform used for the digital editions of HexSwan games, including Starwoven, is the personal intellectual property of Giorgos Apostolopoulos. The platform may also be offered separately as a commercial product in the future, under separate terms and licensing arrangements. Playing a game does not transfer ownership of the platform or grant rights to commercially exploit it. Third-party components remain subject to their respective ownership and licences.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service to play for your own non-commercial entertainment. Nothing else is licensed to you. Without our prior written permission you may not:
- copy, reproduce, print, publish, distribute or make available any of our games, their rules text, artwork, illustrations, code or other content, in whole or in substantial part, on any platform or medium;
- copy, reproduce, adapt or reuse the code of the Starwoven digital platform or of the HexSwan multiplayer system, set up your own copy, clone or competing service based on them or on the way our servers work, or build software that connects to our servers other than through our website (for example unofficial clients, bots or automation tools);
- sell, resell, rent, lease, sublicense or otherwise commercially exploit the Service or its content, or use it to offer a competing or copycat product, including printed, physical, digital or online adaptations or clones that copy its text, artwork or distinctive expression;
- create or distribute derivative works, translations, mods, remakes or merchandise based on Starwoven, any other HexSwan game or their artwork;
- extract, scrape or download the artwork, text or data of the Service in bulk, or use them to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning or AI models. We expressly reserve our rights in this respect, including the right to opt out of text and data mining;
- remove or hide copyright, trademark or other notices;
- decompile, reverse engineer or tamper with the Service, or try to obtain its source code beyond what your browser receives, except where the law allows this despite this term;
- use the names HexSwan, Starwoven or the names of our other games, or our logos, in a way that suggests that you or your product are connected with, or endorsed by, us, or register names, domains or social media accounts that are confusingly similar.
What you may do: play our games for yourself and with friends, share links to the Service, and share your own screenshots, videos, streams and reviews of your games, including on social media, provided you credit HexSwan, do not present a game as yours or imply our endorsement, and do not use them to sell the game or its artwork. We may ask you to remove material that breaks these rules or harms us.
Some parts of the Service use third-party materials (for example fonts) under their own licences, which apply to those parts. If you break this section we may block your access, remove content and take the legal steps available to us. If you think something on the Service infringes your rights, or you see someone copying our work, write to info@hexswan.com with the details.
9. Paid features
The Service is currently free. If we introduce paid features, the price, what you get and your cancellation rights will be shown clearly before you buy, and may be covered by additional terms.
Individual games may have their own additional rules or terms, which will be shown to you where they apply.
10. Third-party services
If you sign in with Google, your use of Google is governed by Google’s own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.
11. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or that games and data will be kept.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of games, accounts or data, or loss of profit, arising from your use of a free service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or the mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may end or change the Service, or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example about our content, liability and governing law) continue after your use ends.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell account holders by email about important changes. If you continue to use the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms; if you do not agree, please stop using it.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Greek law. Disputes fall under the courts of Athens, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have, including the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where the law gives you that right. We would rather hear from you first: write to info@hexswan.com.
16. General
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not give it up.
